Matthew 26:36-38 King James Version (KJV)
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

36 This may have been something that they commonly did during Passover time but could have been something new but regardless it was different this time due it being the last Passover that they would spend with Jesus. If the Son of God had to pray during a struggle how much more should we pray during our struggles, He se the example for us of what to do during the hard times of life. We can’t the way we are to without prayer.
37 These were His three closest disciples but most likely also the three men He was closest to, we often will reach out to God and in times of sorrow He will have us find a close friend need by to help us stay close to the Lord if it is His will.
38 Jesus was taking on the sins of this world and being perfect this may have been conviction that He was facing so that we would be spared it. Jesus was facing something none of us as His will ever have to go thru but those of the world, the lost may have to face this same thing as He did for us.
