Matthew 27:30-32 King James Version (KJV)
30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

30 Spitting was insulting it still is today. Hitting Him with the reed was to hurt Him because of their anger towards Him, they were full of hate because they didn’t see Him for who He is.
31 They also mocked Him. Jesus told them about His kingdom and His Father both they most likely used to mock Him since they didn’t believe them. They mainly mocked His kingdom because of them giving Him a robe. They may not have mocked Him for the Father because they hated Him for that.
32 This man most likely was lead to help Jesus carry the cross because Jesus was unable and they needed Him to be crucified. Simon helps carry the cross for Jesus. As Christians we are to bare our cross but we have Jesus to help us carry it.
