Matthew 27:41-44 King James Version (KJV)
41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
Matthew 27:41-44 Expanded Bible (EXB)
41 The •leading [T chief] priests, the teachers of the law, and the Jewish elders were also •making fun of [mocking] Jesus. 42 They said, “He saved others, but he can’t save himself! He says he is the king of Israel! If he is the king, let him come down now from the cross. Then we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God, so let God •save [rescue; deliver] him now, if God really wants him [Ps. 22:8]. He himself said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 And in the same way, the robbers [rebels; revolutionaries; v. 38] who were being crucified beside Jesus also •insulted [ridiculed; taunted] him.

41 They continued to mock Jesus, they didn’t see even though what He was doing was out of love, many people will mock us because of what we believe but we often wont act in love like Christ was doing.
42 They wanted Him to come down because they saw it as saving Himself, the problem was He still was saving other by staying on the cross, Him coming down would have defeated everything He had done, those He saved would have no longer been saved if He came down. Praise God He died on that cross.
43 Jesus is God’s Son but He also was the Lamb for the sins of the world, the offering was being given on the cross.
44 The thieves mocked Him, however we do later see the one come to faith after seeing How Jesus reacts and still loves.
