14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
14 The soldiers would be protected but they would have to lie, if they told the truth it is likely they would be killed by the Pharisees. Soon none of this would matter because Jesus would be back. There will come a time what the world plans doesn’t matter because of what the Lord wills.
15 The Pharisees did this with Judas. This spread and people believe it but it wouldn’t stop the faith from growing because of what the Lord did. We aren’t to let anything to keep us from spreading the faith.
