1 Chronicles 24:26-31 King James Version (KJV)
26 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi: the sons of Jaaziah; Beno.
27 The sons of Merari by Jaaziah; Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 Of Mahli came Eleazar, who had no sons.
29 Concerning Kish: the son of Kish was Jerahmeel.
30 The sons also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers.
31 These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.

26-28 Because Elezar didn’t have any sons this line would be cut off; if he had daughters they would be under their husband’s line. We may not have physical children but we can have fruitful life thru Jesus bearing Him more children.
29-30 These men would have sons and the priest line would continue thru them. The work of the Lord should continue after we die and should train up people thru the Lord to do such service that needs to be done.
31 Lots were cast, this was a common way of seeing that God chose, they wanted God to choose rather then they choose their selves. We shouldn’t choose how we serve but serve as the Lord chooses for us.
