1 Chronicles 17:1-2 King James Version (KJV) 17 Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains. 2 Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
1 Chronicles 17:1-2 Common English Bible (CEB) God’s promise to David
17 When David was settled into his palace, he said to the prophet Nathan, “I’m living in a cedar palace while the chest containing the LORD’s covenant is under curtains.” 2 Nathan replied, “Go ahead and do whatever you are thinking, because God is with you.”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 David noticed how nice the place he lived was and knew who he truly was compared to the Lord, the person who was truly in charge and then one David allowed and wanted to be in charge. The tabernacle was still at this time in a tent, a tent that was designed during the time of Moses, it may have been much worn, and they were now in their land they could remain in one place now.
2 Nathan spoke for himself not as a spokesmen for God as he should have Nathan should have went to God before decided and telling David this, sometimes even what seems good is not what God wants us to do because He has others things for us.
