1 Chronicles 17:16-20 King James Version (KJV)
16 And David the king came and sat before the Lord, and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17 And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Lord God.
18 What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19 O Lord, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
20 O Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

David’s prayer
16 Then King David went and sat in the Lord’s presence. He asked:
Who am I, Lord God, and of what significance is my family that you have brought me this far? 17 But even this was too small in your eyes, God. You have spoken about the future of your servant’s dynasty and have chosen me as an important person, Lord God.
18 What more can I say to you for honoring your servant? You yourself know your servant. 19 Lord, for your servant’s sake and according to your will, you have done this great thing in order to make all these great things known.
20 Lord, no one can compare to you, no God except you, just as we have heard with our own ears.

16 David is not littling his value but realizing God is giving everything when he deserves to given nothing, David is being humble. David did not actually go to see God but went somewhere to talk to Him. We also deserve nothing but He gave us His best His Son on a cross for us.
17 David knew that because the Lord said it that it was just a matter of when no longer and if. We also should have this much confidence in God’s word. David both shows faith and humility something that we all as Christians should do.
18 David knew where he came from, a shepherd and now that he is king of Israel, he knows that the Lord brought Him there. The Lord made him who he is. As Christians the Lord is best part of our life.
19 David’s desire was not to be king but just to be serving the Lord making Him proud, that will take us a long way in serving Him making Him proud of us we will be where we did not expect because He brought us there.
20 There is no religion that meets the same things as the Lord. The Lord blesses us and gives to us we can not earn anything but He gives it to us any way.
