Nehemiah 1:10-11 Living Bible (TLB)
10 “We are your servants, the people you rescued by your great power.11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Heed the prayers of those of us who delight to honor you. Please help me now as I go in and ask the king for a great favor—put it into his heart to be kind to me.” (I was the king’s cupbearer.)

10 He is talking to the Lord reminding himself of what the Lord had done. The Lord never needs to be reminded of what we did but sometimes we need to be reminded of what the Lord has done for us. He is also by doing this giving the Lord praise and His just dues. We can never praise the Lord as much as He deserves but we are to praise Him.
11 So he gave the Lord praise before asking for something, he gave credit to Him for what He had done before he asked for Him to do something else, he was not just asking and asking God but he took time to thank Him and praise Him for what he had done. He prays with humility calling himself God’s servant, we are to be like this, we are to serve Him. He was praying that the position the Lord allowed him to have would bring the Lord honor and further service to Him. Do we use the placements the Lord has given us for Him or do we use it to benefit ourselves?
