Matthew 26:1-5 King James Version (KJV)
26 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.
5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

Plot to kill Jesus
26 When Jesus finished speaking all these words, he said to his disciples, 2 “You know that the Passover is two days from now. And the Human One will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Then the chief priests and elders of the people gathered in the courtyard of Caiaphas the high priest. 4 They were plotting to arrest Jesus by cunning tricks and to kill him. 5 But they agreed that it shouldn’t happen during the feast so there wouldn’t be an uproar among the people.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 Jesus spoke privately to His disciples, He often times did this because they followed Him everywhere while the others just came to hear Him while He was near by. He had a special bond with His twelve and so He shares more with them because of this.
2 He was telling them that in two days are the Passover as you know and I will be betrayed, this He had told them before but they were having trouble accepting it. Jesus would be betrayed this may have got them thinking, who will do this to Him. Crucifixion was for criminals they may also think what He is going to do.
3 This was the group that wanted to get rid of Jesus and what they were going to be doing was not legal by Jewish law.
4 They planned to have Him killed quietly this was there plan but was not God’s will; God will was what would happen. It is not known of how they were planning to kill Him but it is known that He would die on the cross.
5 They were referring to the Passover, their plan was to wait till the Passover was done, they end causing the uproar of people to be in their favor and be tool to have Him die on the cross.
